Vitamin C and niacinamide both promise brighter, more even skin. So why does every skincare aisle stock dozens of each? Because they solve overlapping but distinct problems.
What vitamin C does
L-ascorbic acid is a potent antioxidant. It neutralizes free radicals from UV exposure, supports collagen synthesis, and visibly fades dark spots over 8–12 weeks of consistent use.
What niacinamide does
This form of vitamin B3 strengthens the skin barrier, regulates oil production, and reduces the appearance of pores. It's also remarkably gentle, making it suitable for sensitive and acne-prone skin.
Can you use them together?
Yes. The old myth that niacinamide cancels out vitamin C has been debunked. Apply vitamin C in the morning under SPF, and niacinamide at any point in your routine.
